A Swiftie’s Guide to Kansas City

Taylor Swift stands tall during her Eras tour.

Kansas City is known for the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs, great barbecue, and now Taylor Swift. With Swift making her relationship public with tight end Travis Kelce earlier this year, Kansas City has seemingly transformed into a Swiftie playground. Additionally, Swift’s decision to move into a multimillion-dollar home in Kansas indicates that she’s sticking around for the long run.

This means Kansas City is the new crown jewel for fellow Swifties. This blog will highlight some of Kansas City’s most iconic spots, restaurants, bars, and Swiftie hot spots. So Kansas City, are you ready for it?

10. Union Station

From the screening of The Eras Tour to the Taylor Swift-themed planetarium light show, Union Station is the first stop on our tour of Kansas City. During the first leg of The Eras Tour, Union Station featured AlphaLit displays for fans to take photos with. Complemented with the signature Speak Now purple shining on the outside of the building, Union Station will always be bejeweled.

9. Dolce Bakery

Not only is Dolce Bakery featuring themed cakes related to Swift, Kelce, and the Chiefs, but it also has an entire Swiftie collection complete with cakes from each era and additional ones for the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version). The woman-owned business has been a Kansas City staple since 2007 and is renowned for its custom cakes, dessert tables, and carefully crafted iced sugar cookies. Dolce Bakery is a must-stop for any Swiftie hosting their own Eras-themed party.

8. Made in KC

For Swifties looking to get their hands on some Taylor- and Travis-themed merchandise, look no further than Made in KC. With multiple locations across the Kansas City area, namely the Plaza location, there are endless amounts of shirts, mugs, and posters that are appropriately themed for the duo’s blossoming relationship.

Additionally, select locations are serving the Swelce—a lavender-honey flavored latte that makes for the perfect drink to stay warm as you watch Kelce score a touchdown. They even honored Swift’s achievement for being Time’s Person of the Year with a custom Lavender Haze cocktail complete with lavender flavoring and edible glitter.

7. Boulevard Brewing Company

Born the same year as Swift in 1989, the Boulevard Brewing Company, located on Southwest Boulevard, has been the largest specialty brewery in the Midwest. With hundreds of beer options and a 10,000-square-foot beer hall, Boulevard Brew is the perfect spot to enjoy a refreshing locally made beer. During the Kansas City stop of the Eras Tour, they featured a Taylor-inspired beer tasting, complete with a flight of six beers led by a pair of Boulevard’s resident Swifties.

6. recordBar

Located in North Kansas City, recordBar is the frequent host of Taylor Fest—an all-night dance party with themed drinks, photo ops, and non-stop singalongs to Swift’s iconic discography. Although the most recent Taylor Fest was held during the first leg of the Eras Tour, the intimate venue hosts multiple events and concerts throughout the year and is the best place for live music up close and personal in Kansas City.

5. Donutology

The next destination for Swifties who crave a sweet treat is Kansas City’s custom doughnut shop, Donutology. Not only have their custom doughnuts gone viral plenty of times, but the shop is also an avid supporter of Swift. During the first leg of the Eras Tour, they released a special 30-pack of mini doughnuts with clever nods to songs like “Last Kiss” by adding chocolate icing with a Hershey’s kiss. Although the special was a limited edition, their custom doughnuts will surely put a smile on any Swiftie’s face.

4. ShananiGanns Boutique

Hop in your getaway car because our next stop is technically not in Kansas City. ShananiGanns Boutique, located in Shawnee, KS, is the perfect destination for finding gifts for the Swifties in your life. With enough merch to fill a Chevy truck, you’ll enjoy the small-town charm this boutique provides. Finding unique merch is no challenge here as everything carried in-store is locally made and one-of-a-kind.

3. Prime Social

Following Swift’s first public appearance at a Chiefs game in September, the city was alive with buzz as to where the couple would go to celebrate Kelce’s win. True Kansas City Swifties will recognize Prime Social as a historical landmark, as Kelce rented out the venue after the game. The trendy rooftop restaurant saw a steep increase in business after the couple was spotted there, and for good reason, too. With custom cocktails, small plates, and a fantastic view of Kansas City, Prime Social is worthwhile for anyone looking for an enchanted dining experience.

2. The Wild Way Coffee Creations

Young friends enjoying their cups of coffee together.

Don’t blame me for including another coffee shop on our tour. With so much to do, you’ll need the extra caffeine to keep up. The Eras Menu created by Wild Way Coffee Creations hits differently. With nine themed drinks, Swifties can enjoy a cardamom-spiced chai inspired by Swift’s album “Red” or a Cake Fight Latte with pink frosting and sprinkles reminiscent of her album “Lover.”

1. Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

This is no hoax. The last destination in this guide is the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. As an appreciator of all art forms, Swift would enjoy walking through the halls of this highly praised art museum. All are welcome at the Nelson as admission is free, encouraging people to take a break and enjoy the broad collection spanning over 5,000 years worth of culture. Although it’s no Centennial Park, the lawn of the Nelson is a great spot for a picnic, a game of Frisbee, or a simple stroll through the strategically laid out pathways.

With Swift resuming her extremely successful Eras Tour in February, Swifties have plenty of time to explore Kansas City in hopes of running into the superstar at any of these locations. Welcome to Kansas City, Taylor. We’ve been waiting for you.
